WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY
When you worship in an Episcopal Church, it may seem as if you are
dropping in on a conversation already in progress, a conversation
between God and human beings which began long before you were born, and
will go on long after you are dead. So do not be surprised or disturbed
if there are some things in the conversation that you do not at once
understand.
Our Anglican Tradition is about 2000 years old and stretches back
through the ages to the Apostles and to our Lord himself. It is a rich
Tradition that is unique in the Christian experience, and it is a
Tradition in which we Episcopalians find the nourishment for a lifetime
of Christian living.
For over 250 years, people from all walks of life have worshiped at
Saint James. Although a sense of history pervades the beautiful old
sanctuary and the peaceful churchyard, the present-day activity level is
high, and the parish enthusiastically opens its doors to all who seek
God's love.
Saint James' ministries provide opportunities for fellowship and
service for people of all ages starting with the newly refurbished,
worship-centered nursery and continuing right on through to a very
active group of seniors from homes and retirement communities throughout
Lancaster County. This web site details these opportunities and provides information on the background and beliefs of our church.
