Saint james Rector, Father David Peck, prepares the Eucharist at the Dylan Mass

"The hymns they are a-chagin" announced a Lancaster Newspaper headline on Saturday, Februaury 20, 2010. It referred to Saint James' Dylan Mass scheduled for that evening.

It was a gala event as over 325 people gathered to participate in a Holy Eucharist featuring the music of Bob Dylan as a way to explore Lenten themes of sin and redemption. Saint James Director of Music Ron Barnett played piano and sang, accompanied by Dave Pedrick, guitar;Charlie Burnett, bass; and Clem Lichty, drums.

For several years the on the 1st Saturday of each month Saint james has offered a Jazz Mass. Plans are currently underway to feature other types of music on the 3rd Saturday of each month . A Blue Grass Mass is scheduled for March 20 at 5 p.m.
