SAINT JAMES BREAKFAST PROGRAM IS THE BASIS FOR JUBILEE MINISTRY DESIGNATION

Saint James was designated a Jubilee Ministry at the Diocesan Convention in 2004. They recieved this designation because of the Anchorage Breakfast Program.

"Offering safe anchorage in the midst of life's storms," the Saint James Anchorage Breakfast Program has been providing a free continental breakfast open to anyone in need of food and companionship since 1985.

Organized and staffed by volunteers from Saint James Episcopal Church and the Lancaster community, the program serves from 110 to 150 people per weekday. Guests include the homeless, transients, and low-income families and range from parents with small children to the elderly. Attendance varies as personal circumstances change. There are no eligibility requirements; anyone is welcome to attend. The meal, which is served cafeteria style, includes a hot beverage, orange juice, cereal, and toast.

The program is financed by Saint James Parish and individual contributions. Donations are always welcome. Total cost for the program averages more than $25,000 annually.

The mission of Jubilee Ministry is to make a direct and dynamic link between our theology and our ethics - to talk the talk and walk the walk of our faith. As Christians we do this by responding to the Gospel's call to "feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked care for the sick, and visit the imprisoned" (Matthew 25:35)
